Winifred M. “Winnie” Yahn 94, formerly of Schenectady passed away at home on Sunday October 3rd in Glenville.
Formerly of Schenectady, Winnie was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Selmer) DeVarnne and a graduate of Nott Terrace High School.
A homemaker, she was a former employee of Greens Department Store in Schenectady and the former Albany Felt Company. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, taking long walks, working outside around her home in Schenectady and helping her neighbors when needed. Winnie loved spending time at camp on Sacandaga Lake, Tom’s cooking, bird and animal watching in the yard and spending time with her family and friends.
Predeceased in 2011 by her husband of 57 years Richard Yahn, Winnie was also predeceased by her siblings, Irene Hamel, Gertrude Winders, Raymond, Lester, Willard and Edward DeVarnne.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Thomas Siatkowski of Glenville, grandson Nicholas Siatkowski of Glenville, great granddaughter Autumn Siatkowski of Glenville, sister-in-law Joyce White of Rotterdam and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 8th at 1 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. A visitation for Winnie will be held at the funeral home from 12 to 1 pm prior to the funeral service.
Interment in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY
Winnie’s family would like to thank Kathy Palmer for her friendship, care and compassion she gave to Winnie, they would also like to thank the team from Hospice and Dr Tonneau for everything that they have done for her.
