Phillip J Tiberio

Phillip J. Tiberio passed away peacefully on October 29th at Ellis Hospital with his family at his side. Phil was born on May 19, 1930 in Schenectady, the son of the late Dominick and Antoinetta Tiberio.Phil was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 1949 and continued his education at Union College with a degree in engineering. His professional career included 36 years at GE where he was a supervisor at the M&P Lab. Upon retiring from GE he went on to become a founding partner of MCL Testing Lab of Scotia where he served as Lab Director for ten years. He was also co-owner of Superior Insulation Company with his business partner Cliff Lloyd. Mr. Tiberio is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Chartier), and his four children. Phil (Gale) Tiberio of Schenectady, Paul (Sue) Tiberio of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris (Diane) Tiberio of Ridgefield, Connecticut and Susan (Mike) Herrington of Scotia, along with ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His surviving sisters include Irma (Donald) DeMarco of Niskayuna and Ada (Frank) Salamone of Vero Beach, Florida.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lena (Donald) Kaba. Phil took enormous delight in being with his family and friends. When his boys were young, he spent considerable time as a troop leader of Scout Troup 41 in Rotterdam. In his later years, he devoted much of his free time to several hobbies including golfing, bowling and gardening. His golf leagues included M&P Lab and the 300 League. He was also an avid model sailboat racer who competed regularly for the "Phil's Cadillac Cup".Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady on Sunday evening, November 2,2008 from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral service will be held Monday morning, November 3,2008 at 10:45 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 11:30 am at St Joseph's Church, First Street, Scotia where a mass of Christian burial will celebrated. Entombment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Donations can be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205 or to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Road, Albany, NY 12205.The family extends their warmest gratitude to Dr. Thomas Goodman and his staff and the Ellis Hospital 6th floor nursing staff.
