Mark K Whitney

Mark K. Whitney, 61, of Rincon, Puerto Rico passed away on December 17, 2014. He was born in Rockville Center, NY. Mark was the son of the late Ralph Whitney and Claire (Bessette) Whitney of Rotterdam.. He was a graduate of Northport High School and received his Associates degree in Culinary Arts from SCCC. Mark was employed as a chef in Puerto Rico. He enjoyed cycling, golf, and the NY Mets, Rangers and Jets sports teams. Mark was passionate about teaching his grandson to play hockey. Besides his mother, Mark is survived by his son Mark Whitney of Northport, NY, two daughters Jessica Dohnert (Michael) of New York City and Anne Whitney of New York City, two brothers Brian Whitney of Westbury, NY and Matthew Whitney of Georgia, one sister Joy France of Rotterdam, also survived by one grandson Luke and his former wife Laura (Maloney) Whitney-Kaplan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday December 29, 2014 at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mark's memory to the National Stroke Association at www.stroke.org .
