Mark J Deleva

December 16, 1952 — August 26, 2018

Mark J. DeLeva, 65, died peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018 after a brave battle with Leukemia. He was born to the late Joseph and Marilynn DeLeva in Schenectady, NY on December 16, 1952 and resided for the past 41 years in Mariaville, NY. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Phyllis DeLeva; sons, Joseph DeLeva (Rachel) of Brooklyn, NY and Matthew DeLeva (Joseph Littlefield) of Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren, Theodore DeLeva Littlefield and Isla DeLeva; sister, Dale Peterson (Daniel); sister-in-laws, Cheryl DeNice (Jeffrey Marhafer) and Jacquelyn Millsaps (Gary) and brother-in-law, Wayne Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark worked at GE and Schenectady City Schools. He was a proud volunteer fireman at Mariaville Fire Department and an active member of the CSEA. He also served in the Army Reserve and was a member of the Rotterdam Elks. Mark also was a staff volunteer for many years for the Harley Rendezvous. Mark was happiest surrounded by his family, taking his boat out on Sacandaga Lake and going on Caribbean cruises with dear friends. But nothing made him happier than being "Poppy" to Theo and Isla. A Celebration of Mark's Life will be Thursday August 30, 2018 at 7PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Visitation will precede the service from 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mark's memory to the Mariaville Fire Department 9284 Mariaville Road Pattersonville, NY 12137.
