Elizabeth Astin

Elizabeth (Bettie) Allard Astin 82 of Rotterdam died Monday January 24, 2005 at Ellis Hospital while being cared for by Community Hospice. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Florence Allard and the wife for 45 years of the late George T. Astin who died in 1991 and sister of the late Arthur H. Allard. A graduate of Draper School, Bettie worked for GE broadcasting for over 26 years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church and former Treasurer for the Schenectady Inner City Ministry and worked with the Housing Task Force and Enriched Housing Program. Elizabeth is survived by two nieces and a nephew. A memorial service will be held Friday morning January 28, 2005 at 11 am at the Bellevue Reformed Church, Broadway, Schenectady. A graveside comitial service will be held at Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY in the spring. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bellevue Reformed Church, 2000 Broadway, Schenectady, NY 12306 in her memory.
