Earl H. Avery 90 died Wednesday morning February 20th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Oneonta, NY, Earl was the son of the late Archelaus and Bertha (Ireland) Avery. A graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Earl received his Bachelor's in business from Siena College. Employed by the General Electric Company and a member of the Quarter Century Club, a former Purchasing Agent he retired after 30 years of service. A descendent of Christopher Avery who arrived in America from England in around 1630, Earl enjoyed all of sports and was a member of the Construction Golf League and the GE Sports League. An animal lover, Earl enjoyed his golf lunch group from the Rotterdam Mall and his canine companions Kim and Peaches in his later years and enjoyed giving rides on his property on his golf cart. Predeceased in 2006 by his beloved wife of 59 years Bernice "Bonnie" (Evans) Avery, Earl is survived by his children, Gail Hanna (Robert), Gary Avery and Kurt Avery (Barbara), his grandchildren, Brian Avery, Travis Avery, Gwen Loftin (Nick),Bethany Lambeth (Kevin) and Sean Hanna. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning February 23rd from 9 to 11am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. Private interment in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Earl's memory to the Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 or the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady County , 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 or to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308. Earl's family wishes to thank Barbara Kingsley for her love and care which enabled Earl to remain at his home and to the ER staff and 4th floor Cardiac Unit at Ellis Hospital for their care and kindness during his hospital stay.
