Christopher Robyn Tockey, loving husband and father, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 23, 2024.
Christopher was born in Tracy, California, to Charles Tockey and Dawn (Bauer) Brown, on December 4, 1981. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and began his 24-year career. Christopher received his bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Idaho and his masters of Mechanical Engineering from University of Idaho. He also continued his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While teaching at MARF Nuclear Power Plant in Saratoga Springs, Christopher met Betsy (Elizabeth), and they married in September of 2013.
Christopher was an avid motorist and car enthusiast. His Hellcat was one of his prized possessions and he would never turn down a chance to work in the garage on one of his vehicles. He was also a very talented handyman, fully renovating multiple homes of his own and rooms for family members. He was humble, and always ready to help anyone in need. He truly was a jack of all trades, finding solutions to every problem and there was nothing he couldn’t build or repair. He loved his family and embraced the role of a dad even to the children that were not biologically his.
He served as the engineer aboard the USS Louisiana from 2015-2018. After his sea tour, he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Deputy Project Superintendent from 2018-2022. Most recently, he was working as the Repair Officer at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut, living there during the week and traveling home to Rotterdam every weekend to spend time with family. While serving as the Repair Officer, he implemented innovative changes to the programs. His contributions to the command have been recognized as the NSSF intends to establish an award in his name due to his innovative spirit.
Christopher is survived by his wife of 12 years, Elizabeth (Betsy), and his children, Kayleigh (Steven) Woodham, Gabriel Apholz, Carolyn Tockey, and Liam Tockey, his mother Dawn Brown, father Charles ‘Chuck’ (Drinda) Tockey, brothers Nicholas (Kathryn) Tockey, Nathaniel Tockey, In-laws John and Mary Reagan, Sister-in-law Melissa (Angelo) Santabarbara, Brother-in-Law Patrick Reagan, granddaughter Eliana, and many nieces and nephews.
