Arthur W. Brown 93 passed away on Monday, April 9th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born and educated in Schenectady, Arthur was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Emma (Pangburn) Brown Sr. A graduate of Draper High School and the General Electric Apprentice Course, Art served with the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. An employee of the General Electric Company for more than 42 years, Arthur retired as a Supervisor in the Generator Development Group. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, VFW Post #1895, Schenectady Lodge of the F& AM and the Bellevue Reformed Church. Art's main passion was his music. He played in the Army band and many bands in both Schenectady and in Florida. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and travel with his wife and friends. His camp on Thompson's Lake was one of his favorite places to be with family. Predeceased in February of 2017 by his beloved wife of 72 years, Phyllis (Becker) Brown, Arthur is survived by his children; Carol Nitsche and husband William of Rotterdam Junction and Bruce Brown and his wife Linda of Rotterdam, a brother; Harold Brown of Utica, his grandchildren Laurie and Lawrence Brown, Debra Nitsche and Sharon and Bruce Handerhan, his great grandchildren; Kevin and Kate Brown, Casey and Sam Conrad, Jake Handerhan and Luke Handerhan and his 2 great great grandsons; Wesley and Colton. Arthur is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Arthur's life will be held on Friday morning April 13th at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to Arthur's service. Interment will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park with Military Honors.
