Yolanda Gizzi 96, passed away on Friday December 30th at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, NY
Born and educated in Schenectady, NY Yolanda was the daughter of the late Teodoro and Francesca Gabriele and a 1944 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Yolanda was a former head cashier and bookkeeper at the Price Chopper Market in Rotterdam for more than 23 years before retiring in 1982.
A member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam, Yolanda was a former volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany. She loved playing cards with her sisters, husband and friends, bowling, traveling with her sisters, doing word search, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and reading. As the family grew, holidays and gatherings were what she looked forward to the most.
Predeceased in 2007 by her beloved husband Angelo L. Gizzi, she was also predeceased by her brother Vincent Gabriele and sister’s Modestina Hall, Mary Bond and Elena Domanico.
She is survived by her daughters Susan Caprara (Ralph) of Rotterdam and Jean Holland of Albany, her sister Gloria Massaroni, grandchildren Brian Caprara (Marisa), Karen Caprara-Nieves (Rafael), Maria Caprara (Stuart), Jason Holland and Aaron Holland (Amanda), great grandchildren, Ryah, Greyson, Sofia, Camila, Nadia, Viana, Life and Ricky and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday January 5th from 10 to 12 noon at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady followed at 12 noon by a service to celebrate her life.
Interment will follow in St Cyril’s Cemetery.
