Wilma M Youker (Macarthur)

Wilma Youker passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7th at Baptist Nursing Home at the age of 91. Wilma was born in in Davenport, NY on December 20, 1926 to the late Robert and Inez MacArthur. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Youker whom she married in 1951. Donald passed away in 1994. She was also predeceased by her 4 siblings. Wilma was a graduate of Charlotte Valley Central School and Mildred Elley Secretarial School. They lived most of their lives in Schenectady where Wilma worked at ALCO and was then a homemaker for many years. Wilma, also known as Gram and Gigi, is survived by her daughters Sharon (Daniel) Lair and Dawn (Mark) Ferrer, grandchildren Kevin Ward, Trysha (Brian) Merritt, Leah and Lindsay Ferrer, and great-grandchildren Charleigh, Alexandra and Carter. Wilma had a love for reading and knitting but mostly loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed eating strawberry doughnuts with her great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face. While she was often a woman of few words, she loved her family and always wished for them to be happy. Her memory will remain with all those who loved her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Nursing Home for the care given to her these past few years. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held at 10:00am at the funeral home on Thursday. Interment will follow at North Kortright Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a memorial donation to the American Heart Association or a charity of their choice.
