William E. Scofield, 77, of 5th Street Rotterdam died Thursday February 14, 2008 at St. Clares Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late William and Georgia (Barber) Scofield. William was a 1949 Graduate of the Schenectady Vocational School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. William was employed in Schenectady for 26 years for the Maqua Co. as a Book Binder and later for GE as a Stock Clerk for 17 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. William enjoyed Fishing and Bowling. William is predeceased by one brother Leo E. Scofield He is survived by his wife Betty Mae Rolfe Scofield whom he married April 7, 1951, two brothers Dennis Scofield of Schenectady and Charles Scofield of Rotterdam, two sisters Gwendolyn Fowler of Rotterdam and Linda Dollase of Rotterdam, one Sister in Law Jean Scofield of Rotterdam as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Calling Hour will be Wednesday 10-11AM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
