William J Rickard, 54, of Rotterdam died Tuesday evening April 10, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family after a 3 year battle with Cancer. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Jay and Marion Jensen Rickard. A graduate of Linton High School and Schenectady County Community College, William was the former owner of the Blockhouse Beef & Brew in Schenectady. A chef for over 30 years, He worked for the Packhouse Restaurant in Saratoga and was working for the Woodlin Club in Glenville at the time of his death. An avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, Bill was a member of the First Reformed church of Schenectady where he was a former deacon and active volunteer. A devoted family man, Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Terry L. (Vandercar) Rickard, his three children Jodi E. Rickard and fianc?' Bo Vongsakoun of Denver, CO, Jason W. Rickard and Jeffrey A. Rickard both of Rotterdam, his In-laws, Richard and June Vandercar of Rotterdam, a sister, Judith Smith of Berne, NY, a sister-in-law, Debbie Healey (John), a brother-in-law, Kyle Vandercar (Katie) and many nephews; also, dear friends Mike and Ellen Beals. A memorial service will be held at the First Reformed Church, 8 N. Church Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 on Saturday April 14, 2007 at 10 am. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Double "H" Hole in the Woods Ranch, P.O. Box 1378, Williston, VT 05495.
