William A Countermine

William A. Countermine, 68, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his home in Rotterdam, with his wife, Mary Lee, was by his side. William was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Hartingstall) Countermine. A US Army veteran, William attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from SUNY Albany with his Bachelors in Mathematics. William worked in Research and Development for the NYS Thruway Authority for 30 years until his retirement in 2011. He had previously worked in production for Channel 17,SUNY Albany in the communications department and at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. A member of First Reformed Church in Schenectady, William also belong to the Masonic Lodge #1174. An amateur ham radio operator, William was a troop leader for Indian Guides and Indian Princesses. He loved skiing of all kinds in both water or snow and camping. A licensed pilot he Loved spending time on trips to Bangkok with his son Bryan. Was extremely proud of his family and his children's accomplishments, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and participating in their activities. He taught his family to be fearless, adventurous, and embrace life. Besides his parents, William is predeceased by his sister Cheryl Kochem. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lee (Curcio) Countermine, William also leaves behind his son, Bryan Countermine (Vivian) of Santa Cruz, CA and his daughter, Michele Countermine DeLorenzo of Rotterdam as well as grandchildren, Allison Countermine, Ricky DeLorenzo and Carmine DeLorenzo.
