William J. Bond Jr. passed away unexpectedly Friday morning July 1, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, Bill was the son of the late William and Esther L. (Peterson) Bond Sr., William was a graduate of the former Draper High School and a WWII Navy Veteran. A designer at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, Bill retired in 1989 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Guilderland Elks, an Usher at Proctors Theater, GE Quarter Century Club,the Masonic order in Schenectady and was an active member with the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church as an usher and helping to serve communion.. Bill was also an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his yard, traveling. William is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marlene E. (Wayto) Bond, his daughters, Melanie S. Patterson (Roger) of Pattersonville and Michele D. Williams (Anthony) of Rotterdam, his grandchildren, Brittany Kennison (Justin), Mikaela Patterson and Ryan Patterson and his great grandson, Rhett Perham A memorial service will be held on Friday July 8,2016 at 11:30 am at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12308. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the Memorial service. Inurnment with military honors will be held at Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in William's memory to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302
