William A Bednarowski Jr

William A. Bednarowski, Jr., 73, passed away at his home early on Sunday, November 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a lifelong area resident, spending his early childhood in Amsterdam and ultimately making Rotterdam home. He was the son of the late William Sr. and Matilda (Smith) Bednarowski. Bill was also predeceased by his sister Cheryl Drozdowski and his devoted Sweetie, Eileen Noah. A graduate of Draper Schools, the GE Apprenticeship course and a United States Army veteran, Bill spent his career as a toolmaker, working for 35 years at the General Electric Co. until his retirement in 1997. Bill also was a longtime employee of Altamont Metal. In his earlier years Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed rollerskating, golf and had a great love for music. Always involved in projects, Bill spent countless hours in his garage working alongside his many friends. Bill leaves behind his children, William S. Bednarowski (Lyn) of Rotterdam, Susan Ryder (James) of Rotterdam Jct., Cheryl Griffin (Will) of Rotterdam, and Karen Bednarowski of Rotterdam, as well as their mother, Betty Bednarowski of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Julianne and Troy Moran and Jamie, Corey and Christopher Ryder. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, November 17th, from 5-7pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. A prayer service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10:15 am followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at St. Adalbert's Church, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady. Interment will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Contributions in Bill's name can be made to the Disable American Veterans, 1201 Stratford Rd., Schenectady, NY 12308.
