Welton (Doc) W. Blessing,88 of Rotterdam passed away early Tuesday morning October 23rd at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born and educated in Schenectady, Welton was the son of the late Wesley and Bertha (Suits) Blessing and a graduate of the former Draper High School in 1948 The former owner of Welton's TV Sales and Service in the late 40's to early 1960's, Doc went on to an illustrious career with the General Electric Company for over 38 years, retiring as a Quality Control Engineer. He earned the nickname "Doc" by being the one to call on when a problem arose with a motor or generator that no else could handle. After his retirement Doc became a self-employed consultant in manufacturing for the G.E. and other companies. Traveling to countries such as Korea,Brazil, Canada as well as throughout the USA. Doc worked his magic in Hospitals,prisons and nuclear plants where ever an electrical power problem arose. A member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club, Doc was a member of the N.R. A., the Harley owners Group and an avid Harley rider. Along with his wife Dorothy they enjoyed attending Harley rallies,fund raising events and just being together on anyone of the several Harley's that they owned. Predeceased in September of 2017 by his beloved wife Dorothy M. (Czech) Blessing, Doc is survived by his son, James L. Burk of Altamont who cherishes the memories of times and love he and his Dad shared and all of the things his Dad had taught him over the years.He is also survived by his brother, Marvin Blessing (Mary Jane) of Princetown and nephew,Wesley Blessing (Jennifer), niece, Mary Ann Nickloy, great nephews,Colin Blessing and Nickolas Cornaire, great nieces, Anna Blessing and Stacie Cornaire and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning October 29th at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to his services. Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rotterdam, NY following the funeral. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Doc's memory to the Henrietta E. Kugler and Dorothy M. Blessing Memorial B.T. Scholarship, C/O SUNY Cobleskill Foundation,Knapp Hall, 107 Schenectady Avenue,Cobleskill, NY 12043-1704
