Warren M Starr, 81 of Rotterdam passed away on Friday November 1, 2024 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
He was born in Rotterdam, the son of the late Myron and Beatrice (Swatling) Starr.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Warren was employed for Niagara Mohawk as an Underground Electrical Mechanic for 34 years.
Warren was a lifetime member of the former Fishers Methodist Church, now known as the Rotterdam United Methodist Church.
Warren was an active member in the Rotterdam Elks for 38 years and the American Legion for 20 years. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and NASCAR. He was an avid follower of the yellow 3 of Pete Cory’s racing team, at Fonda Speedway. Back in the day as a preteen, he spent many hours hanging around Mott’s garage where he would be of help, working on or around Pete Cory’s #3 car.
He was quite proud of the fact he and a couple of friends built his & Scherry’s home; doing a great deal of the work himself. He took great pleasure in keeping the yard and flower beds in beautiful condition. One of Warren’s greatest loves was to travel. In 2007 he took the family on a seven week adventure; driving from New York to California and back. Other favorite travels were to Orlando and Kissimmee Florida and to Myrtle Beach, SC many times through the years.
Warren is survived by his soul mate and loving wife of 45 years, Scherry (Dona) Starr, his five children, Sherri Porter (Ernest), David Starr, Gary Starr, Randy Starr (Shaunna), and Todd Starr.
