Walter P Yanis

Walter P. Yanis, 59, of Schenectady died Thursday December 23, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Waclow and Albina (Parskocim) Yanis. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. Walter was employed for 41 years for General Electric serving as a Union Official- Health and Safety Officer. He played with the musical group Sweet Cider for 31 years and the group-Lucky Ticket. Walter was a multi award winning musician, singer and songwriter with the Northeast Country Music Association He was a devoted father, grandfather and brother. Walter is survived by two sons Michael Yanis of Mechanicville and Eric Yanis of Rochester, one daughter Heather Yanis of Schenectady, one brother Albert A.Yanis (Phoebe) of Warrenton, NC, also survived by two grandchildren- Christopher and Nicholas. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Calling Hours will be Wednesday evening 6-8PM and Thursday morning 9-10AM at the funeral home. Internment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Rotterdam.
