Walter F Leja

Walter F. Leja 82 of Rotterdam, died Thursday afternoon November 13th at home after a long illness. Born in Mineville, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Louise Leja. A World War II army veteran, he worked for the General Electric Company for over 41 years retiring in 1986 as an inspector. Walter was a member of the GE ? century club and Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. Walter was also predeceased by his brother Edward Leja and his mother and father in-law Angelina and Anthony Scalzo. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Cora Scalzo Leja who he married October 16, 1953, his sisters, Isabel Leja and Wanda Zahn, his sister-in-law, Rose Mineconzo all of Schenecatdy, nephews, Edward Leja of Ballston Lake and Andrew Zahn of Lolo, Montana, a niece, Dorothy Gillespie of Schenectady, 4 great nephews, 2 great great nephews and several other nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning November 18, 2008 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Monday evening from 4 to 7 pm Interment in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY Contributions may be in his memory to Riverview Cancer Care Center, 896 Riverview Road, Rexford, NY 12148
