On July 15th at the age of 98, Virginia Barbara Grant ascended to heaven.
Born in Schenectady, Virginia was the daughter of the late Paolo and Rosina (Puorto) Coco and a 1944 Graduate of Nott Terrace High School.
Growing up on Front Street in the Stockade, Virginia retired from NYS Department of Tax and Finance after many years of service. A former employee of Bonds Clothing Store in Schenectady, Virginia had worked for the Normanskill Dairy Stores and was a former manager in several of the Stewart's Shops in the Capital District area.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia was a devoted homemaker, she was compassionate, generous and was a perfectionist with everything that she created. She enjoyed knitting, crochet and sewing. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City in the 80's, she was a Roller skating and Boy Scout mom, making costumes and attending scouting activities.
The loving wife of the late Glen Washington Grant Jr. who passed away in 1995 after 46 years of marriage, Virginia was predeceased by her 8 Siblings, Alexander Coco (Marie), Aurora Wheeler (Phil), Anthony Musco (Theresa), Catherine Cafarelli (John), Louise Musco, Vincent Musco (Edith), Esther DeSorbo (Ralph) and Mary Finn (Earl).
Virginia was the loving mother to her 3 children, Glen Washington Grant III, Tracey Hogle (James) and Kelley Mango (Clifford) and beloved grandmother of Nicole Mango-Moise (Robert), Alyssa Mango, Kevin Mango and Lily Hogle. Virginia was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services for Virginia will be held on Thursday July 20th at 12:15 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY followed at 1 pm at St Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm.
Interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glenville, NY.
