Victor R. Mastriani, 88, died Friday January 1, 2010 at Saint Luke Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born in Schenectady, New York. The son of John Mastriani and Mary Grace (Pasquarella) Mastriani. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant, High School and Siena College, where Vic excelled in Basketball. After graduation he played basketball professionally for the Schenectady Comets of the New York Basketball League. Shortly, after Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Thereafter he was honorably discharged and founded Draper Pharmacy with his brothers Anthony and Louis. The three brothers operated Draper Pharmacy together for thirty eight years. After retirement he moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to his son John and daughter Christine. Beside his son and daughter Vic is survived by his brother Lou and his wife Jean Mastriani of Rotterdam, his nephews John (Deborah), Mark (Julie), Christopher (Sheria) Mastriani, his niece Joanne Zingoni and grand nephews Ian Mastriani and Matthew Zingoni and grand niece Megan Mastriani and Clarissa Butler Funeral service will be held on Friday morning January 8, 2010 at 9:15am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 10 am at St Madeleine Sophie Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday morning from 8 to 9:15 am prior to the services. Interment in St Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers any contributions should be kept to benefit one's own family at Victor's request.
