Vernon Henry LaRochelle 85, of Spring Creek, NV, passed away on January 1, 2019 in Salt Lake City, UT.
He was born on February 24, 1933 in Schenectady, NY where he later attended Mont Pleasant High School, graduating in 1950. He served 2 years in the US Army as a surgical technician in Germany and was employed by the General Electric Company as an accountant for over 25 years at the Schenectady, NY and Erie, PA plants. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed drawing, bowling, and tennis and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Siebenbuerger Singers.
Vern was loved by many and will be remembered for his soft-spoken kindness, his sense of humor, and how deeply he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Roy LaRochelle & Helen (Strimel) Ellrott, his grandparents Henry Joseph & Elizabeth (Andersen) LaRochelle, his wife Audrey (Moore) LaRochelle, his grandson Latham LaRochelle, his great grandson Kaison Mitchell, and his sister Patricia (Gemmett) Nuzzi. Vern is survived by his wife Cindy (Jodon) LaRochelle; brothers Richard Gemmett, Mike Ellrott, and Bob Ellrott. Sons Robert LaRochelle and his wife Anne, and grandsons Andrew and Christopher; Thomas LaRochelle and great-granddaughter Peyton Hinton. Daughter Karen LaRochelle.
He is also survived by his 12 bonus children and their families. Sons Corey Mitchell and his son Chance and wife Jaycee and their daughter Jaiden; Theron Mitchell and wife Emily and their children Marie, Summer and Sadi; Nathaniel Mitchell and wife Katy and their children Chloe, Blain, Avenlea, and Zeyta; Abraham Mitchell and wife Yuko and their children Tiaga, Ely, Aya, and Kota; Samuel; Timothy and wife Stacey and their children Ammon and Alex; James and his wife Mary and their son Clayton. Daughters: Melissa Mitchell married to David Mellars and their children Damian, Darius, and Kiya; Trudy Mitchell and her children Hazelynn, Jodon, and Kennady; Molly Mitchell married to Jonathan Kroupa and their sons Dakota, and Phillip; Scarlett Mitchell; Darcey married to Randyn Winkelkotter and their daughters Millie, Madilynn, and Mia.
There will be a viewing held on Saturday, January 12 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. It will be followed at 2:30pm by a simple graveside service at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 100 Kings Road, Schenectady, NY.
Funeral services were also held in Salt Lake City, UT on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
