Valaria M Rose

Valaria (Mickey) Rose 90 of Schenectady died Tuesday evening September 2, 2008 at Ellis Hospital. Mickey was born in Ithaca, NY on January 6, 1918, the daughter of John and Maude DeMun. She worked for the Carl Company and Pleasant Valley Meat Packing Company. Mickey was the wife of the late Donald Rose who she married June 2, 1945 and made their home in Schenectady where they raised their three Children, Deloria Kazmierczak (Bernard) of Raleigh, NC, son,(twin) Eugene (Jerry) Ballard (Sharon) and daughter, (twin) Arlene (Geri) Giammatteo (Louis) both of Rotterdam. Mickey's first husband Abel Ballard died in 1945. She was the loving grandmother of Donald, Lisa, Scott, Kim, Deloria, Stacey, Louis Craig, Tina and their spouses, blessed great grandmother of Ryan, Sidney Emily, Ava, Keegan, Benjamin, Andrew, Ella Adeline, Analise, Gabriel, Nicholas and Logan Grace. She is also survived by her dear and caring brother, John Miller of Binghamton, her cousin and friend Lawrence Howe Jr. (Esther) and several nieces. Mickey was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth and Jack DeMun. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 6, 2008 at 10 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Friday evening fro 6 to 8 pm. Interment in St Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY. Mom set the standards for hard work and served as a wonderful example to her children. Her greatest joy was to have her family around her and loved the Christmas Holiday because she loved to give to all those she loved. Our thanks to Dr. Linderman, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Goodman, Dr. Vacca, Dr Drago, Dr Coleman and his PA Bill, Dr. Lam ,Visiting Nurses and Ellis Hospital. A special thanks to Pat Taber, her devoted aid, her neighbor, Julia and her loyal friends, Becky Hill and Karen Roberts. To anyone that has helped her put up "the good Fight" in the last few years, your deeds will never be forgotten.
