Tom (Tommy) M. Brogan 88, of Rotterdam Junction New York and originally Stone, Kentucky passed away May 29th, 2024 peacefully at his home after battling a long illness. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helene as well as daughters Cynthia (Paul) Chevalier, Kristin Brogan and son, Charles Brogan. Tom is also survived by grandsons, Paul Chevalier Jr, Andrew Chevalier (DR), and nephews Randy Brogan of Virginia and Sam Brown of Maryland. Tom is also survived by brother in law Michael (Sharon) Karl as well as numerous extended family members. Tom is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Mae Brogan of Stone Kentucky as well as his big brother, Bob (Billie Jean) Brogan of Berkley Springs West Virginia.
Tom started his life taking on the wilderness of Kentucky with his brother Bob, his father Harold, and his pit bull, Butch. Not a squirrel, rabbit, or deer was safe from the Brogan trio. Tom kept his passion for the outdoors throughout his life even traveling multiple times to Alaska with his loving bride.
Tom attended Roanoke College in Salem Virginia and then embarked in truck driving which lead to his meeting of Helene. Tom then switched gears and was employed by Ford Motor Credit and then his career in which he proudly served as sales manager for 30 years until his retirement for Firestone Tires in Menands New York. Tom made many life long connections while serving in this position. Tom’s work ethic continued into retirement where he was employed by the former Northeast Armored Car, Hudson Armored and Brinks. Tom was often on call for Brinks at all hours and would leave home at a moments notice even on holidays.
Tom influenced many people throughout his life and was proud of remaining in recovery for 30 plus years. He was always available at any time to help anyone who needed guidance in the recovery process.
Tom was a larger then life presence that would welcome you into his home and would always take the time for a conversation. Tom carried a great pride in his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Tom was a proud American to the core and a very vocal supporter of the police and the Second Amendment. Tom was an avid NASCAR fan as well as classic western movies and country music. Tom enjoyed reading as much as he loved telling stories. Tom loved traveling until his health declined and was able to see Maine, Alaska, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and Europe.
A visitation will take place at the Bond Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 from 9am to 11am. Funeral and internment will follow at Woestina Reformed Church in Rotterdam Junction at 12pm. Any contributions in memory of Tom are asked to be sent to Community Hospice.
