Thomas J Monty

Thomas J. Monty, 89, of Rotterdam passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born in Mechanicville, Thomas was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Purtle) Monty. A World War II Marine Corps veteran, Thomas achieved the rank of Corporal and was a machine gunner involved in the Iwo Jima and Volcano Island conflicts. Working for Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory for 40 years, Thomas retired in 1988 as a service equipment operator. Thomas was predeceased in 2005 by his wife Helen E. (Feuz) Monty, whom he married on September 19, 1948. Thomas leaves behind his daughters, Sharon Blanchette (Ronnie) of Ballston Lake and Donna Mattice (David) of Rotterdam as well as 2 grandchildren, Bryan Mattice (fiancé Kelly Bootier) of Schenectady and Megan Mattice of Rochester. A graveside service at Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam will be private at the request of the family. There will be no calling hours for Mr. Monty.
