Thomas Jones

Thomas W. Jones passed away on Sunday evening June 27th at his home surrounded by his family.

Born to the late Earl and Olivette (Evans) Jones, Thomas was raised on his family farm in Princetown, NY., where he later raised his own family with his loving wife Maryann (Countermine) Jones.

A hard-working man from a very young age, operating heavy equipment came with ease. Tom worked for local excavators as an operator and at one time had his own excavating company. His dedication to work brought him to the Schenectady County Highway Department, retiring after 42 years only to then work for the Schenectady County Airport for 25 more years.

Tom’s biggest love was for traveling and camping with his wife throughout the United States. They loved seeing the countryside, often times with his entire family. Tom adored his grandchildren, watching them grow up. He also had a passion for John Deere tractors and antique cars. Tom had an amazing sense of humor and loved his rescue cats.

Beside his parents Tom was also predeceased by his daughter Trena L. Jones, grandsons Thomas W. Jones III and Nicholas Richard Jones and his brothers Earl, Donald and Ray Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife Maryann (Countermine) Jones, children Thomas W. Jones Jr. (Lori), Tommy Jones (Betsy), Russell Jones, Claudia Ostrander (Craig) and Jesse Countermine (Sarah) his 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers William Jones (Beverly), Robert Jones (Judy), Lawrence Jones (Tanya) and Clifford Jones (Pat), sister Olive Mae, and his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Thomas life will be held on Tuesday July 6th at 7 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 7 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Tom’s memory Community Hospice or to the Montgomery County SPCA.
