Thelma E Schoneich

July 3, 1921 — July 15, 2015

Thelma E. Schoneich, 94, passed away peacefully at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center on July 15, 2015. A native and lifelong resident of Schenectady, born July 3, 1921, daughter of the late Charles P. and Grace A. Fronk Smith Schoneich. Thelma was a graduate of Draper High School and Albany Business College. During World War II, she worked as an assembler of war materials at General Electric. After the war, she joined Prudential Insurance Co. in Schenectady and retired as an office manager in 1982 after 36 years of service. Thelma was a member of Rebekah Lodge Schenectady for many years. An active golfer, knitting and travel were her pastimes. A lifelong member of Bellevue Reformed Church, she enjoyed the company of friends. Survivors include 4 nieces, Sandra Preston, Linda Rubin, Gayle Smith and Patricia Donhardt as well as great nieces, nephews and several cousins. Thelma was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret, Donald and Rev. Harold Smith and a niece, Diana Smith Kim. A special thanks to the caregivers at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at Viewland Cemetery, Princetown Rd. in Rotterdam on July 22 at 11am. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, 323 Kings Rd., Schenectady, NY 12304.
