Thelma Irene Gauvreau-Insero.
East Greenbush - In Loving memory of our Mother, Thelma Irene Gauvreau-Insero 95, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on March 8, 2024. Born in Albany, NY on November 22, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Frank Gauvreau and Genevieve (Martin) Gauvreau. She was also predeceased by her four sisters and one brother.
Thelma went to Draper schools. In her 11th year of high school life changes were happening, and at the age of 15-16 she decided to go to work. This decision set her on the course of where she ended up the happiest. She went to work at Central markets first, then on to Grand Union where she worked for at least 50ish years. She retired twice but always went back until Grand Union closed. When she was reaching close to her 80’s she was getting bored so she went to Hannaford’s on a whim and she was hired. She loved working at the markets. She loved to help people, make them smile and laugh. To sum her up she was a Social Butterfly wherever she went. She loved talking to everyone. She loved people. She loved life.
Thelma loved to dance especially, the Jitterbug. She was on bowling leagues for many years. Later in life she enjoyed going to Casinos and big games of Bingo. Enjoyed many bus trips with her best friends throughout her life. Trips to Atlantic City with Mary, Alberta, and Dottie. Adventures out West & Las Vegas with her sister Genevieve.
Thelma enjoyed and loved fiercely all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special gift of a Great-great granddaughter before her passing. She loved a good party of any kind, with good friends and family. Occasional get togethers at her nephew’s house on Galway Lake where they would always make her a special treat of Bread Pudding. In her later years she turned to coloring pictures. She was actually pretty good at it. She always strived for perfection. Her pictures will be enjoyed by her family for many years.
Thelma is survived by her children - Brenda Prevost (Len), Deborah Bidwell (Dick), Joseph Insero (Kathy), Frank Insero (Diane), Robert Insero (Cindy). Grandchildren- Bill & Brian Zeppetelli, Kim Foy, Stacy Leger, Brant Insero, Shannon Loveland, Dana & Cal Insero. Also step-granddaughter Kim Quinlivan. Twelve Great-Grandchildren.
