Steven Struffolino

Steven Struffolino of Rotterdam NY, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at the age of 78. At the time of his passing, Steven was surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born on August 11, 1945, to the late Joseph and Carmella (Ruggiero) Struffolino. Steven grew up on Cutler Street in the city of Schenectady with his parents and 10 siblings. While living on Cutler Street, Steven met a young woman who lived across the street. The two began dating in 1962. They fell in love and were married in 1967.

Steven was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He served for the Army in the Vietnam war from 1968-1969 and was stationed in the Tan Son Nhut Air Force Base in Saigon. Steven worked for General Electric for twenty years and then went on to retire from Lockheed Martin in Milton, New York where he was a Production Control Specialist.

Steven is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Barbara (Baltazar) Struffolino and three sons, Brian, Chad, and Scott (Jessica) Struffolino. Steven was the proud “Papa” to six grandchildren, Tyler (Amelia Sobieski), Cody (Alyssa Travis), Hunter, Hayley, Kenny, and Christopher. Steven also had two great-grandsons, Aidan, and Noah.

Steven was the rock of his family. He provided love, support, and guidance to all his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch them play sports and always gave them plenty of encouragement. He coached Little League for his sons. He loved baseball and was an avid Yankees fan.

Steven loved to travel with his family and spent winters with his wife, Barbara, in their Florida home. He also particularly enjoyed trips to Lancaster Pennsylvania with his family.

Steven is also survived by his sisters, Carmella (Mike) Rinehart and Josephine (Phil) Eats and several nieces and nephews. Steven is predeceased by his brothers Vincent (Ethel) Struffolino, Ralph (Marie) Struffolino and Joseph Jr (Diane) Struffolino and his sisters Jennie (Dick) Rogers, Marion (Nick) D’Attillio, Rose (Ralph) Guerra, Connie (Ronald) Grinter, and Frances (Dick) Hunt.

Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral home at 1614 Guilderland Ave. in Schenectady between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10 beginning at Bond Funeral Home at 10:15 am and followed by a Mass at 11AM at St. Adalbert’s Church in Schenectady.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Rotterdam.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Schenectady County, or Polish American Veterans 29 Newell Road Schenectady, NY or Disabled American Veteran Chapter 88.
