Stephen M. Ventresca,70, of Latham, New York, passed away peacefully at home on September 10,2025 after a long-fought battle against Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsons Disease. Steve was born in Schenectady, New York on October 8, 1954, to the late Catherine Fanales and Joseph Ventresca.

Steve grew up in Rotterdam, New York, graduating from Draper High School in 1972 prior to attending Siena College. Steve graduated Magna Cum Laude from Siena in 1976 with a degree in business. Steve went on to hold several positions at Travelers Insurance between 1976-1991 when he became an account executive at Cool Insurance Agency. Here he became the assistant vice president in 1995 and a partner in 1998, remaining in the position until his retirement in 2017.

Steve was an active sportsman, especially sharing his love of basketball, golf, and the Yankees with all. He played many sports in his school days and continued to play in men’s basketball and golf leagues throughout his life. Steve coached a number of children’s youth basketball teams. He was a member of Pinehaven Country Club and later Ballston Spa Country Club. Steve was a lifelong season ticket holder for Siena College Men’s Basketball.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene Ventresca (nee Marocco) whom he married on September 9, 1978, at the Siena College Chapel, their two children Nicholas S. Ventresca and Alicia (Jeffrey) Gorski, and three grandchildren, Dominick Gorski, Alexandra Gorski and Vincent Gorski. Steve is also survived by his brother Louis (Darcy) Ventresca, two sisters Nicole Cohen and Susan Wade, his step-mother, Pamela Ventresca, several cousins, two aunts and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is predeceased by his step-father, Gaetano Fanales, both sets of grandparents, and his aunts.

In lieu of flowers, Stephen’s family requests that donations be made to The Community Hospice: 445 new Karner Road, Albany NY. 12205, The Lewy Body Dementia Association: 912 Killian Hill Road S.W, Lilburn, GA 30047, and/or to Siena College Athletics: 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

The family would like to thank the team from Community Hospice, his longtime aids Danielle and Colleen and the many friends and family members who assisted us in this journey.

A visitation will be held on September 18th from 4-7 PM at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306. A funeral mass for Stephen will be September 19th at 10am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110. Followed by burial in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
