Stephen Eugene Mintz

Stephen Eugene Mintz, 82, of Amsterdam passed away on Monday June 7, 2021 at River Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Amsterdam. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Maxwell and Maria (Katz) Mintz.

He received his bachelor degree from Brown University in 1960 for English Literature and received a second bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College in 1965.

Stephen was employed as a systems analyst for New York State. He was a former chairman of the Vocational Advisory Committee at Hudson Valley Community College. Stephen was president of the Y-Knot Sailing Organization from 2007-09 and was active as a volunteer and participant. He was a very passionate sailor throughout his life. Stephen was also an amateur radio enthusiast and had an extra class license.

He is survived by his daughter Rachel Mintz and son-in-law Nathan Gray, his son Dan Mintz and daughter-in-law Ashley Mintz, his step daughter Sherri Peitrantone, his sister Joan Parlin, his companion Betsy VanDergues and two grandchildren Carter Gray and Hudson Gray. Stephen was also predeceased by his step-son Forest Barnes.
