Stanley Jay Primett

Stanley “Jay” Primett, 71, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 29, 2024, at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia, NY, where he was cared for in his last two months of his earthly life.

Son of Edgar H. and Marion F. (Smith) Primett was born in Niskayuna, New York, on 18 May 1953. He attended Schalmont High School and worked over 30 years for the State of NY in the Department of Unclaimed Funds.

Jay loved reading, watching storms from his porch, playing volleyball in Washington Park, comic books, the outdoors, and visiting Maine. He lived in his Rotterdam home on the same road that he grew up on. He loved is pets, especially his dog Ayla. Jay was known for his generosity and for always seeing the good in people.

Jay is preceded in death by his three brothers (Edgar, Ronald, Robert) and his sister Betty. He is survived by his sisters Joan Schiavone (Mario), Marilyn Primett Zimolka (Michael deceased), (Zimolka), and Heidi Slurff (Fred Sr. deceased). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with his longtime friends (John, Jim, Peter, Kendal, Steve, Martin, Gene, Greg, and others).

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for Jay’s in-home care team (Janet Truelove, Tammy Longo, Kim Dematteo, Teresa Primett, Pat Borst), his hospice care team (Laura, Missy), as well as the entire staff and team of volunteers at the Joan Nicole Prince Home, for their care and compassion. We were blessed to have them caring for him.

Friends and family are warmly invited to visit with Jay’s family from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Bond Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow on the same day at 2pm, also at the funeral home, to which all are welcome.
