Sophie Sammler Nash (Swol)

Sophie (Swol) Sammler Nash 96 of Rotterdam died Monday evening August 27th at her granddaughter home in Ballston Spa surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Schenectady, NY and was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Kita) Swol. Sophie attended Schenectady Schools and worked at both the General Electric Company and later Key Bank from which she retired after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Church of St Adalbert, the Rotterdam and Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens, the Columbiets of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid bowler and golfer. Sophie was the wife of the late Frank Sammler who died in 1962 and the late Raymond E. Nash who died in 1996. She is also predeceased be her siblings Stanley and John Swol, Helen Godlewski, Wanda Januezski and Genevieve Bradt. Sophie is survived by her children, Edward Sammler (Patricia) of Rochester, Kathleen Irish (Charles) of Ballston Spa and Carol Murphy (Art) of San Diego, CA, a brother-in-law Richard Godlewski of Rotterdam and 2 sister-in-laws, Irene Pacelli and Frances Sammler both of Schenectady. She is also the grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning August 31st at 8:15 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady followed at 9 am at Church of St. Adalbert, Lansing Street, Schenectady where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from6 to 8 pm. Interment in St Adalbert Cemetery.
