Shirley M Schermerhorn

Shirley M. Schermerhorn, 85, of Schenectady, died peacefully on Friday July 26th, surrounded by family. Born and educated in Schenectady, she was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Shirley was the daughter of the late Nellie Sanders Schermerhorn. Shirley worked for the NYS Teacher's Retirement System for 27 years. She was a patron of the arts, supporting SPAC, Lake George Opera, Glimmerglass Opera and Proctors.Shirley was predeceased by her sister Dorothy J. Harlow. She is survived by her beloved niece Sherry Delgrego, nephews Selwyn (Judy) Harlow Jr., Scott (Serena Benson) Harlow, brother-in-law Selwyn Harlow Sr., and great nephews, Daniel and Kent Harlow.Bond Funeral Home will arrange a private service and burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Proctors Capitalization Campaign, 432 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
