Shirley Mae Adkins

Shirley Mae Adkins, 91, passed away on Thursday January 26th at St Peter’s Hospital.

Born and educated in Schenectady, Shirley was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mabel (Regels) VanBuren and a graduate of the former Draper high School.

A homemaker, Shirley was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church who enjoyed bowling, collecting stamps and coins and caring for her dachshund, Miley. A former athlete, Shirley was a devout New York Knick fan.

Survived by her sons, Bruce E. Adkins and his wife Sharon of Altamont and Paul D. Adkins and his partner James Fleischman of Schenectady, Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren Jason Adkins and Amanda Keefe and her husband Brian.

A visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday evening February 1st from 5 to 7 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 7 pm.

Spring interment in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY.
