Sandra (“Sandie”, “Ding”) Lee Enright-Dingley, 82, born on March 26,
1943, died peacefully in her home in Schenectady, New York on February
8, 2026. The daughter of the late Elinor Louise (Morris) and Joseph William
Enright, Sandie was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts and schooled in
Haverhill and Portland, Maine. After high school Sandie graduated from
Bay State Academy in Boston, training to become an airline flight
attendant. Sandie accepted a position working for American Airlines in their
office in New York City, where she met John McDonald Bateman, whom
she married. After bring transferred to Boston, they lived in Melrose,
Massachusetts.
In the early 70s Sandie accepted a transfer to Hawaii, where she
embraced the island culture. She developed many friendships, including
one with Carl “Skip” Howard. Together they had a daughter, Brook Leilani.
After several years, they separated, and Sandie and Brook made a home
for themselves on the island of Oahu.
A short while later, Sandie met Franklin Earl Dingley III, and they
married. In 1978 their daughter Sarah Lilia was born. After a few years,
Franklin required medical attention, which brought him back to his home in
the Albany, NY area. When the girls were both school age, Sandie brought
them to Albany, where they completed their education. Sandie continued to
work for American Airlines until she retired.
Sandie is survived by her devoted daughter Brook Leilani Bateman
and partner Michael “Red” Spring, her “most handsome” grandson Nicholas
Michael Bateman and wife Shelby Lynn, and her beloved grandchildren
Shayne Diane and Nolan Nicholas. Sandie is predeceased by her daughter
Sarah Lilia Dingley, who died in 2022.
Sandie was an enthusiastic and joyful craftsman, making countless
gifts for friends and family.
Respecting Sandie’s wishes, there will be no services. Please
celebrate her life with all the joy that she brought into this world. Sandie will
be dearly missed as an auntie, a cousin, and a friend.
