Ruth Simmons

Ruth Simmons, 88, of Fifth Street Scotia died Wednesday April 19, 2006 at St. Clare's Hospital after a short illness. Ruth was born in Russia, NY and was the daughter of the late William E. Jones and Helen ( Brown) Jones. She is a graduate of Milford High School. Ruth was employed for several years as a Beautician at Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, NY. Afterwards, Ruth became a homemaker. Ruth was the matriarch of her family. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and aunt. Ruth will be remembered for her creativity, cooking, her love for people and for being a strong woman. She was also an avid Bingo Player. Ruth is predeceased by her husband Robert L. Simmons, one grandchild Ralf Simmons and two sisters-Mary Palmer and Dorothy Mackey. She is survived by her two children Maxine Inman of Scotia and Richard Simmons of Schenectady, one brother Luther Jones (Billie) of Plano, Texas, one sister Ella Jane Baumgartner ( Edward) of Oneonta, 5 Grandchildren- LuAnn Hart, Jeffrey Inman, Thomas Simmons, Michaela Simmons and Helen Simmons, 8 Great Grandchildren-Justin, Nick, Meghan, Jaclyn, Bobby, Allison, Brooke and Logan, 6 Great Great Grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Monday 10AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Calling Hour will precede the service from 9-10AM. Internment will be at 1PM Monday at Oneonta Plains Cemetery in Oneonta.
