Russell T. Markham

Russell Thomas Markham, 33, unexpectedly passed away on February 10, 2025, in Troy, New York. Born on March 1, 1991, in San Luis Obispo, California, Russell had a creative and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped his life. His unique laughter, kindness, and vulnerable spirit will be missed. Russell enjoyed glass blowing, organic farming, and collecting art while supporting local artists. Meticulous, hardworking and reliable, Russell was instrumental in helping his father on remodel and repair projects, and the construction of a new home. Russell also pursued various ventures, always seeking new opportunities to create. He is survived by his father, Stephen P. Markham, his mother, Cindy (Jack) Luxton, his brothers, Andrew (Emily Whalen) Markham and Samuel Markham, his beloved cat, Maya, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on February 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bond Funeral Home, located at 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, New York, 12306. This will be a relatively informal gathering, please come to share your memories and gain comfort with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Russell’s name to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in Russell’s memory. His creativity and passion will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
