Russell Ackerman Sr

Russell H. Ackerman Sr. 59 formerly of Lenox Road died Monday morning June 26, 2006 at Glendale Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of Nellie (Smith) Bowman of Clyde, NY and the late Russell Ackerman. Russell worked at Vickie's Clothing Factory in Newburgh for over 23 years retiring as a clothing designer. He was a member of Light of the World Christian Church and was a volunteer with recovering alcoholic's and the homeless. Beside his mother Russell is also survived by two sons, Russell H. Ackerman Jr. and Anthony Ackerman both of Schenectady, two grandsons, Anthony Ackerman Jr. and Christopher Ackerman, two brothers, Stephen Ackerman of Florida and John Ackerman of N.H., two sisters, Joan Tompkins of Schenectady and Barbara Ruzinski of Rose, NY, and several nieces and nephews. Russell was also predeceased by a sister Susan Roberts. Funeral services will be held Friday morning June 30, 2006 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville, NY. The family would prefer contributions be made to Light of the World Christian Church, 28 Sparrowbush Rd., Latham, NY 12110 in place of flowers.
