Ruben D. Ramos

In Loving Memory of

Ruben Ramos

“Weakie” • “Winky” • “Ruby”January 1, 1955 – September 21, 2026

Ruben Ramos was born in New York City to Carmen Cancel and raised in Spanish Harlem, in the Wagner Houses near 123rd Street and Second Avenue. Although he later made his home in Schenectady, Ruben always carried his New York City roots and Puerto Rican pride wherever he went.

Ruben was outgoing, friendly, and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Throughout his life, he wore many hats—from DJ and limousine driver to working in New York City’s Diamond District and later with DEC at a campground.

A talented athlete, Ruben played Minor League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals organization and remained a lifelong sports fan, proudly cheering for his New York Yankees and New York Giants.

But music was also part of Ruben’s soul—especially the sound of his congas. His love of music, family, sports, laughter, and his Puerto Rican culture will forever be remembered.

Ruben leaves behind his devoted wife, Rosalie Ramos; daughter, April Darlene Ramos; grandson, Corey DeJon Ali; granddaughters, Danae Dior Miles and Dayja Dariah Miles; great-granddaughter, Cianna Liera Ali; his mother, Carmen Cancel; brothers, Raul Ramos and Raul Ramos Diaz; sisters, Diana Greenhouse and Darlene Ramos; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
