- Romine R. "Dick" Bond, 80, died January 30, 2005 at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach Florida. Born March 2, 1924 in Schenectady, NY to Clara Gilligan Bond and Romine Robison Bond who was founder of the Bond Funeral Home, Schenectady, NY. He served two years in the U.S. Army and graduated from Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science, Syracuse. He was past President and former treasurer of Schenectady County Funeral Directors' Association and member of New York State and National Funeral Directors Associations. He retired from Bond Funeral Home in 1990 as President and Licensed Manager and moved to South Daytona, Florida in 1992. Mr. Bond was active and involved with many school, community and civic organizations. He was Past President of Bellevue Merchants Association of Schenectady. In 1975, received organization's annual "Businessman of the Year" award. Member of Schenectady County and National Chambers of Commerce, and former member of local organization's executive board. Past President of the Schenectady Exchange Club. Past Vice President of the Schenectady Kiwanis Club and member of the South Daytona-Port Orange Kiwanis Club. Past member of Local Draft Board No. 30 of Schenectady, Past President of both Euclid and Van Corlear School Parent-Teacher Associations and Schenectady PTA Council. He was an organizer of the Citizen's Convention for the Schenectady School Board, a member of Schenectady Council of Boy Scouts of America and Past President of Electric City Riders Motorcycle Club. He was member of Schenectady American Legion Post 21, Hilderbrand-Davis Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and life member of VFW Post No. 1005. Member of Christopher Yates Lodge No. 971, F&AM, and former Vice President and secretary-treasurer of lodge's Fellowcraft Club; member Rotterdam Lodge 1164, F&AM; St. George's Council 71, R&SM; St. George's Commandery 73, KT; St. George's Chapter 157, RAM; 32d Degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Cyprus Temple Shrine, AANOMS, and past chief of temple's Arab Patrol; Schenectady Shrine Club. Mr. Bond was a lifetime member of Bellevue Reformed Church in Schenectady, NY and then in retirement an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach, FL. He leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn Lois Fetter. Father of three daughters, Susan Stuart (Leonard), Goffstown, NH; Donna Bond (Tom Todd), Daytona Beach, FL; Carol Pahl (David), Scotia, NY and one son, Romine "Rick" Bond, Jr. (Eva) of Port Orange, FL. Grandfather to Melissa Stuart and Mark Stuart, Goffstown, NH and Matthew Bond, Port Orange, FL. Two brothers Donald E. Bond, Amsterdam, NY and Robert W. Bond, Rotterdam, NY and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY in the spring to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Internment will be in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY.
