Rolland O Vanwormer

Rolland Otto VanWormer 87 of Rotterdam died Friday morning January 5, 2007 at St Clares Hospital. Born in Albany, Rolland was the son of Roland and Katherine (Seiling) and an honors graduate of Draper Schools. A life long Rotterdam resident, he served in the United States Navy aboard the Battleship Idaho during WWII. Rolland worked at the General Electric Company for 46 years. He started at 16 years of age in the mailroom and late became an Accountant and was promoted through a number of positions. He was manager of the employee store and the accounting department. Rolland retired in 1983. A long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church, he held numerous church and church school office positions. He was also a member of the GE ? century. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Elfriede (Mayer) VanWormer who he married on August 17, 1946, his son Richard R. VanWormer, two grandsons, Christofer R. VanWormer and Benjamin J. VanWormer, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lore and David Ellis and three nephews, Rev. David Ellis, William Ellis and Jack Ellis. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning January 9, 2007 at 10 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2850 Guilderland Ave, Rotterdam, NY. Calling hour will be held at the church on Monday evening January 8, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm. Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Bond Funeral Home, Schenectady, NY
