Robert “Ranny” Shelmerdine, 89 was called home by the Lord on May 8, 2021. Born March 6, 1932 in Albany, New York to Mildred (Windlespecht) Shelmerdine and Robert Van Evera Shelmerdine. Ranny graduated from Bethlehem Central High school in 1951 and Syracuse University in 1955.
Employed by Hudson Valley Paper Company for over 36 years Ranny resided in Guilderland New York until his retirement in 1991. In his retirement Ranny and Sally moved to Melbourne Beach Florida until 2014. Recently of Latham NY, Ranny was also a summer resident of Sacandaga Lake, Penn Heights, Edinburg NY.
A Life member of BPOE Elks, Rotterdam Lodge, Bethlehem Sportsman’s Club, Ranny was a past member and elder of Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a current member of the A.R Presbyterian Chapel by the sea, Melbourne Beach Florida. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survived by his wife Sally (Ross) Shelmerdine, daughter Diana (James) McKeever, sons David and Edward "Ted" and his wife Kimberley Shelmerdine, 5 grandsons Devin, Jacob, Ian, Tyler and Adam Shelmerdine, 5 great grandchildren Oliver, Evelyn, James, Ruby and Penelope Shelmerdine his brother James Shelmerdine and sisters Marion Court and Mildred Roosa.
Funeral services for Robert will be Friday at 10 am at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY.
Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Roberts memory to the Albany Rescue Mission https://capitalcityrescuemission.org or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
