Robert A Payack

October 31, 1960 — October 23, 2021

Robert A. “Bob” Payack, 60, of Schenectady, New York unexpectedly passed away on October 23rd, 2021.

Born Robert Andrew Payack on October 31st, 1960, in Denville, NJ, and was the beloved son of the late Walter and Mary Payack.

Bob will always be remembered as a kind man with a gentle spirit, a devoted husband, a loving and inspirational father, and an accomplished machinist and business owner who served his community and had genuine compassion for people. He was a member of Cobleskill Full Gospel Church. He loved the Lord and enjoyed playing the trumpet with the worship team.

Bob grew up in Branchville, NJ, and was a graduate of Sussex County Vocational and Technical High School, class of 1979 with a major in Drafting and Mechanical Design. He was a Varsity Soccer player and a member of the National Honor Society. He relocated to Fort Plain, NY in 1983 to help run the family dairy farm. Bob focused his career on mechanical design and worked for several Fortune 500 companies, occasionally traveling to Europe on business, and held a U.S. patent for one of his designs. Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own business that his father Walt started at the “Farm Shop” Diversified Machine & Tool, which would later move to Canajoharie.

Bob’s specialties were machine repair and design, and supported many local businesses and their large industrial equipment. He also welcomed many farmers in need of machine repairs and fabrication of new parts. Bob had acquired specialty laser aligning equipment and was quite often in demand to set up and align complex production process line equipment to very critical tolerances and had established himself as a leader in moving multi-ton machinery with precision. Big jobs, small jobs, Bob was always ready and often traveled much of the Eastern U.S. and Canada aligning, setting up, commissioning, and troubleshooting complex machinery lines. He had a real knack for getting the job well done and earned the respect of many over his years of service.

Bob meant so much to so many. He touched the lives of many people on numerous levels. He always loved a challenge and had a God-given gift for finding solutions to problems. He could fix what most others would have called nearly impossible. He was a humble, gracious, and giving man who would help anyone with anything. That was his nature, often putting his own needs aside.

Bob is survived by his beloved and loving wife of over 36 years, Nancy, devoted and loving father of his beloved daughter, Judith, his brothers Walter Payack Jr. of Carmel, IN, Andrew Payack of Fort Plain, NY, Michael Payack of Little Falls, NY, his sister Laura Payack of Coeymans, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At this time, we would like to send our sincere gratitude to our devoted friends and family for the outpouring of love and support during our devastating loss. We sincerely appreciate your kindness and all you have done.

We were truly blessed to have Bob and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Due to COVID, there were no public services held.
