Robert L Krieger

September 5, 1925 — January 18, 2015

Robert Lewis Krieger was born in Schenectady, NY, on September 5, 1925. In high school, Robert participated in an enhanced technical program as GE had need for technicians. However, at 17and graduation, the US Navy put him on the battleship, Arkansas. With his HS "engineering" background the boilers in the bowels of the ship became his job. He was at Normandy way out in the canal as a supply ship, then went to the Pacific on his way to Japan as the war ended. Back in Schenectady, GE was over-employed so he bought his own store. In 1948, he married a high school friend and soon fathered a daughter and son. In 1958 he joined the Woolworth Company where he worked, managed and supervised their in-store coffee shops in NY, Mass., Ct. and Long Island. At the death of his first wife, he retired from Woolworth's and soon married again. He worked as a business broker until 1992 when he reunited with family and friends back in Schenectady. Bob became a snowbird and loved it. So did his third wife. Bob found the purpose for his life when he accepted his Savior in 1969. Bob's Alzheimer's kept him a sweet and loving man until his home going in Boca Raton on January 18, 2015. He leaves his wife Elizabeth of Clifton Park;daughter, Cathy of Chicago; his son Robert Jr. of CT.; brother, Frank Smith, 3 grandchildren, Robert III, Matthew, and Jasmine; his many step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in Boca Raton on Jan. 22, and in NY later in the spring. Burial will be at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205 or the daycare program Bright Horizons in Latham, 6 Winners Circle, Colonie, NY 12205
