Robert K Hopkins

July 17, 1948 — April 10, 2015

Robert K. Hopkins, 66, of Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Robert was the son of the late Robert E. and Mildred (Marks) Hopkins. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a control system technician at General Electric in Schenectady for many years before his retirement in 2004. An avid sportsman, Rob loved being a member of the Shanty Brook Hunting Club and 301 Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and most recently woodworking. And most of all, he loved helping others. Rob is predeceased by his parents. He leaves behind his companion, Deborah McGregor of Scotia, his children, Christopher Marotta of Rotterdam, and Sarah Marotta of Chicago, IL, his brothers, Donald Hopkins (Janet) of Niskayuna and Jeffrey Munger of Schenectady and his sisters, Arian Williams and Denise Stearns, both of Arizona. Robert also leaves behind his grandchildren, Christopher Marotta, Jr. and Maya Marotta and his nephew, Vincent Hopkins and his niece Carla Hopkins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 12pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Visitation will take place from 10am-12pm, prior to the service. Interment will full military honors will be at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
