Robert Phillip Ciasullo died May 30, 2015. He was born June 3, 1928 in Schenectady, New York, and was the son of the late Joseph and Grace Ciasullo (Castaldi). Robert attended Mont Pleasant High School and as a freshman lettered in track. He joined the Navy after his sophomore year, from July 1945 through February 1947 and was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from the hospital corps school, Bainbridge, MD and was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Robert was proprietor of Cover Creations, "Auto Trim Shop", and manager of Lobel's Children Shop at the Shoporama and followed by display advertising at the Schenectady Union Star, Knickerbrocker News and Times Union. Retiring from the Times Union after 21 ½ years. Robert served as a member of several associations. He was the President of the Shoporama Merchants' Association, member of the Rotterdam Businessmen, Vice President of the I00F Woodlawn Pop Warner Football, Saratoga American Legion member and Saratoga Lake Association member. Robert purchased a camp at Saratoga Lake and built a home in 1975. He owned one of the first pontoon boats on the lake. He enjoyed boating, golfing and gardening. After 30 years on Saratoga Lake, Robert sold his home due to health issues. He moved to the Terrace at the Glen Eddy in Niskayuna, followed by the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Perras Ciasullo, sisters, Jenny Zelansy and Dolores Perkins, brothers-in-law Larry Perkins and Robert Hiller and grandson Uriah Shaffer. He is survived by his daughters Grace Ciasullo (Lee Clark) and Linda Ciasullo, son Robert Ciasullo (Janice), former wife Nancy Ciasullo, grandchildren Leah Garcia (Levy), Curtis Hintz (Sundee), Carrie Hintz, Katie, Megan and Bobby Ciasullo, great-grandchildren Natasha and Marcus Garcia, sister Connie Hiller, nephews Lawrence and Mark Perkins, Peter Brown and Tom DeVito and niece Kim Balko. Funeral Services will be Thursday June 4th at 12 noon at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Calling Hours will be Thursday 10-12 prior to the service. Internment will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
