Robert Blake

Robert Blake ,90, passed away early Wednesday morning September 13th at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his family. Born and educated in Schenectady, Bob was the son of the late William and Anna (DeLong) Blake. A diesel mechanic with the General Electric Company for over 40 years, Bob was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club, loved NASCAR , his cat "Blacky" and his time at his camp at McMurray's Boat Livery on Sacandaga Lake. A longtime widower, Bob raised his children by himself after his wife Shirley passed in 1973. Predeceased by his wife of 13 years, Shirley J. (Smith) Blake, He was also predeceased by a son William. He is survived by his children; Lisa J. Klymkow (Brent Kristel), Paul G. Blake (Elizabeth), Judy A. Blake (Fred Krutz) and Bob Blake (Irene), his grandchildren; Michael Ford (Amanda), Jason P. Blake and Erick Klymkow and his great grandson; Leo Ford. A visitation will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY on Sunday evening September 17th from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday morning September 18,2017 at 10:30am at the Bond Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be held at Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam, NY. Bob's family would like to thank his loving neighbor Mona for all her help, care and compassion over the past 10 years.
