Robert (Bob) Ahles passed quietly to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Robert achieved his goal to live to be 100 and was blessed to be able to stay in his home due to the outstanding love and care of his grandson Louis Mancini for over 10 years.
Bob graduated from RPI in 1943 and served in the US Navy until he began his career at the General Electric in Schenectady. He retired in 1982 and enjoyed fishing, antiquing and many other hobbies. Bob was active in the fellowships at The First Presbyterian and Carmen Presbyterian Churches in Schenectady.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Ahles, son Glenn Ahles and son-in law-Joseph Mancini.
Bob is survived by his son Jonathan Ahles of Narragansett, RI, and daughters Janice Ahles of Porters Corners, NY and Beth Mancini of Rotterdam, NY, as well as his “other son” Christopher Meagher of Saratoga, NY. He enjoyed seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom he will watch over from above.
Bob made an anatomical gift to the Albany Medical College and a celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
The family wishes to thank our very special, loving neighbor Cheryl Trombley, for years of friendship and kindness and for her exceptional care and support in Bob’s last days. The family also is thankful for the support of Community Hospice and his devoted nurse Bill.
In remembrance of Bob, the family requests that donations be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, PO Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301 or that a kindness is extended to someone in need.
