Richard J. Stewart, 66, of Rotterdam passed away on Thursday November 5, 2015 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Niskayuna, NY, he was the son of the late Clifford and Dorothy (Bradt) Stewart. A driver for CDTA for over 13 years, Richard retired in 2009 after 25 years as a supervisor in Schenectady with CDTA. A member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam, Richard was also a former captain for the Rotterdam Volunteer Ambulance. He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha A. Brigham whom he married on July 19, 1969, two daughters Barbara A. Kopecek (David) Delhi, NY, and Kelly L. Durocher (Frederick) of Schenectady, two brothers Clifford Stewart (Rosemary) of Schenectady and Allen Stewart of Schenectady, three grandchildren Mary E. Durocher, Sarah A. Durocher and Frederick C.H. Durocher all of Schenectady as well as two nephews, one niece, a sister in law and a brother in law. Funeral Services for Richard will be Tuesday 9:45am at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road in Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Monday evening 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam Contributions can be made in Richard's memory to Community Hospice 445 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205 or to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road Schenectady, NY 12306.
